Phew! What a day! We spent today spreading HRWC successes and learning about the great work of river groups throughout the country. We know that we’re a leader in some areas but have plenty to learn from the inspired colleagues who we spoke with at Rally.
Some of our memorable conversations included learning about stronger connections between watershed councils and land conservancies in the Mid-Atlantic, hearing New Mexico’s experiences with TMDLs, and brainstorming with River Network on their national climate change strategy. And our very own Executive Director shared her wisdom on retaining and managing excellent staff with Rally-goers.
The 11th National River Rally wraps tonight with incredibly moving awards to 6 River Heroes, snow on the mountains, and the prospect of 80 degree weather awaiting us in Michigan.
A big thanks to C. S. Mott Foundation for our scholarships that enabled us to attend Rally. We’re excited to apply what we’ve learned to the Huron.
