We are excited to announce that Marisa Thomas has returned to HRWC in a new role as Marketing Manager. Marisa was with us March of 2021 through March of 2023 planning and implementing public education for our stormwater groups. She produced digital content like our “Field Day Friday” video series and she led the creation of the 2023 Huron River Watershed Community Calendar “Discover Your Creeks,” all while earning a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University. Marisa’s background includes a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Political Science with a minor in Sustainability also from EMU and recent marketing roles in both corporate and nonprofit settings.

Marisa has already put her incredible talent to work leading HRWC’s digital marketing initiatives and managing our website. She’s been busy promoting our 60th anniversary (you must watch the video!) and making plans for drawing river enthusiasts to our November State of the Huron Conference.

Marisa (say it out loud with me, mah-REE-suh) grew up in Commerce Township and knows the Upper Huron River like the back of her hand. She recently settled in Livonia (in the Rouge River watershed, but we’re ok with that) with her new husband Tyler and hilarious cats Neville and Lancer.

We are thrilled to welcome Marisa back and excited for her future with HRWC!
