Cardinal sitting on a branch
Winter Contemplation
Male Cardinal, Lake Erie Metro Park,
Rockwood, by James Marvin Phelps

I am lucky in my job as marketing director here at HRWC that I get to work with a group of talented and generous photographers. Each of them has a gift for capturing the beauty of the Huron River and the people and wildlife that depend on it. Their photos play a vital role in telling the story of our work and inspiring people to join us in protecting the Huron.

This photo is from James Marvin Phelps. James is a professional nature photographer who now lives out of state. He has contributed his work to the community calendar we produce for the Alliance of Downriver Watersheds, which includes the Lower Huron.

The cardinal will forever bring to my mind winter in Michigan!

You can view more of his work on Flickr. Be forewarned . .  . most feature the southwest where he now works and lives!
