Measuring and Mapping
Time to Get in the Water!
WHAT: We want you to join a team that will measure and map a stream site this summer! Learn to “read a river” by characterizing the bed, the banks and other indicators of stream health. You must first attend a training on the field techniques in a hands-on workshop. Then, people will form into teams to map a site on a later date selected by you and the team. No prior knowledge is necessary. You will not get wet at the training but you will walk IN the stream and possibly over uneven terrain when you map your site. Older Children (10+) are welcome to attend but each one must be attended by one adult.
WHERE: Training: NEW Center, 1100 N. Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI, 48104. Activity: A stream in Livingston, Oakland, Wayne or Washtenaw Counties: See list below.
WHEN: July 31 for training, and then 4 hours sometime in August, depending on your schedule.
DEADLINE: Register by July 15. Use the link below to register.
NEXT STEP for first time volunteers: Please fill out the basic information form.
