Capturing rainwater
Rain gardens, rain barrels, downspouts, curb cuts, native plants and trees, porous pavement, green roofs, bioswales -- these are the tools for managing stormwater runoff in urban areas. They can protect Millers Creek by capturing rainwater to increase infiltration and reduce flooding and soil erosion.
Our Work Year One
Collecting flow monitoring data downstream from the storm drain that connects the project area to Millers Creek.
Years Two and Three
Educating residents of the project area about the issues facing Millers Creek. Implementing residential rain capturing techniques to safely direct rainwater away from neighborhood storm drains. Coordinating community-wide efforts and neighborhood group projects.
Year Four
Collecting and analyzing flow monitoring data and evaluating project results.
