Walking Brutus, a charming silent film captured the hearts of judges and audience alike at the Fifth Annual Millers Creek Film Festival this past Friday winning the Short Film School-Age category.  The film about “a little bit of poop” was produced by the Bright Futures Film Club at Wayne Memorial High School, a team consisting of filmmakers Jessica Denny, Hope Kaminiski, Margaret Van Dyke, Korie-Lynn Whitlark, and Michael Wright.  Bright Futures is an after-school program funded by an Eastern Michigan University 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant and  facilitated by Marty Stano, a 2009 Millers Creek Film Festival winner for his work Runoff Lemonade.

Other winners included Our Environment:  Through the Eyes of a Child, by Ron Merritt of the Woods Creek Friends, winner of the  Short Film-Adult Filmmakers category; and Huron River, by Blair Neighbors, winner of the 30-second Public Service Announcement category.
